Before making an appointment, please verify that you have no contraindications to colon hydrotherapy by reading the section on our website entitled, “Are You Eligible?” (If your health status falls into the “grey area” described, you will need to speak to the hydrotherapist before scheduling a visit.) We also recommend taking the video tour of our office and reading the sections entitled, “What is a Colonic?” and “Frequently Asked Questions.”
When you are ready to make an appointment, please call our office during normal business hours (Mon.-Fri., 9:00-5:00). It is helpful if you call at least a day in advance of when you would like to come in. (We cannot guarantee same-day appointments, as the certified colon hydrotherapist works by appointment only, six days a week, and is not always on the premises.)
Required Information
Because there are so many no-shows and last-minute cancellations in the colonics business, we do require a major credit card (Visa, Mastercard or Discover) to reserve an appointment. You will not be charged until your appointment, unless you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment or fail to show up. In those cases, there is a small, $20.00 ($25.00 in 2007) missed appointment/cancellation fee. We will also need your full name, mailing address, and phone number(s) at the time we schedule your appointment.
Your First Appointment
Your first appointment will take longer than usual... approximately 1½ hours. Extra time is needed to fill out paperwork (health questionnaire, waiver and release, payment policy contract) and become familiar with the process of having a colonic. You will be on the colonic device for 40 minutes. After your session, we will encourage you to have an electrolyte beverage before you leave.
Future appointments take one hour: 40 minutes on the device, plus some preparation time and a few minutes afterwards for you to drink an electrolyte beverage.
Preparation
If you are on any prescription medications, please bring the correct spelling of your medications with you to your first appointment. Other than that, the only preparation necessary for a colonic is to avoid eating solid food for 3-4 hours before your arrival. (It is fine to drink clear liquids — water, tea, etc. — but not milk, protein shakes, or anything else requiring digestion.) This is because the colonic will stimulate peristalsis, and will also stimulate the liver. If there is food in your stomach, you could experience some nausea.
During your colonic, you will be undressed from the waist down only, and protected by a paper medical drape, which we will provide. (Ladies, please wear separates on the day of your colonic.) If you prefer more modesty, you may certainly bring a bed sheet from home. Some clients like to bring along socks or a sweatshirt for added warmth.
